Seamonster Robotics Awarded FIRST!

Congratulations to the Seamonsters who were awarded FIRST’s Engineering Inspiration Award at the PNW District Competition at Mount Vernon High School this past weekend. Competing against 33 other high school teams, the Seamonsters were recognized for “outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within the team’s school and community.”

Over the past couple years, our team has worked hard to broaden our reach, and include as many students from all high schools in the district. Operating as a district-wide team, with our home base at Sehome, we are excited that this year’s team now has student representatives from Sehome, Bellingham and Squalicum high schools – talk about a One-School House model!

Additionally, we are doing a LOT within our community to provide STEM-related experiences (middle school robotics clubs, partnerships with WWU, coding workshops with elementary students, Unified Robotics, making adaptive toys with the BSD, just to name a few) and would love to bring you all up-to-date with the amazing projects and community outreach the students are working on.  Please let me know if you’d like to schedule a time to meet with team representatives to learn more.
