AEROSPACE

Prep for competition and learn about the physics and engineering behind rocketry. Build, launch, and compete in The American Rocketry Challenge.
Meetings are held on Fridays after school.
ANIME

APISA (Asian Pacific Islander Student Association)
Advisor: Jason Fernandez (x7621)
APISA is a place for those of Asian heritage or allies to bond and learn more about Asian cultures! Join our student-based organization as we collaborate with other affinity groups and prepare events such as our yearly Night Market. Our mission is to provide students with a safe space to learn about and share experiences of Asian American culture.
Meetings are held during STORM, 2nd and 4th Friday each month in Room B201.

AP PHYSICS

AP Physics Club will help students in AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, and regular physics. This club provides students with a space to collaborate and learn physics while getting specific 1:1 help from teachers and advanced physics students!
Club meets every day during 1st lunch in Portable A-3–all are welcome!
ART

Art club is run by its members and is primarily a place for students to come and create together in a welcoming and creative environment. Some new skills and projects will be presented periodically if members wish to try some new techniques.

ASL (American Sign Language)

If you love learning more about the Deaf community, supporting local Deaf organizations, want to learn some sign language and take cool trips then join our club!
ASL Club meets in room C103, Fridays after school on A days.

BIBLE CLUB

The mission is to explore the bible and have fellowship with one another. All are welcome to explore and participate in the club.
We meet on Thursday Mornings from 8am to 8:25am in Portable A-1.
BSU (Black Student Union)

Squalicum’s Black Student Union (BSU) is a vibrant and inclusive community dedicated to celebrating Black culture, fostering unity, and promoting social justice. Our mission is to provide a safe space for students to express themselves, share their experiences, and support one another. Through engaging events, educational programs, and community outreach, we aim to empower our members and raise awareness about important issues affecting the Black community. Join us in our journey to create a more inclusive and equitable school environment for all.
CERAMICS

CHESS

CHOIR

Squalicum choir club helps lead fundraisers, performances, and trips throughout the year. We have three choirs here at SQHS: Mixed Choir, Concert Choir, and Storm Singers. CONSTRUCTION

Our mission is to explore construction building standards and discuss future career opportunities and have time to build little projects. Members have taken/currently enrolled in construction academy, woodworking, or applied tech.
We meet Tuesdays from 3:15-4pm in the woodshop.

DEBATE

The Bellingham United Debate Club is three BSD high schools debating as one unified team. We debate Policy, Public Forum and Lincoln Douglas debate in tournaments at high schools and colleges in Oregon and Washington.

DESI

The Desi Club is a vibrant and inclusive space celebrating the rich and diverse cultures of South Asia. Come build a strong, supportive community and share your story with us. Help us host school wide events where we celebrate our rich cultural heritage.
DRAMA

Drama club traditionally produces and performs musicals, plays, student-directed one-acts, as well as monologue study, and audition preparation! We focus on individual acting concepts for the stage. We will study scripts, play acting games, prepare monologues and scenes for sharing, and learn all about the art of acting and technical theatre. FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America)

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a future preparedness club that travels to regional, state, and national competitions. We compete in all sorts of business and STEM events, aiming to improve vital skills that could help us in any branch we choose to pursue! From public speaking to financial math, FBLA hopes to create professional, business-minded individuals equipped with the tools they need to succeed far beyond high school. First meeting is 9/18 directly after school in Ms. Smith’s room.

HEALTH ALLIANCE

Our club students are making a difference in our school and community by helping to increase awareness of the dangers of substance abuse, distracted driving and other harmful behaviors. We are a group of young leaders making healthy choices for ourselves, encouraging others and modeling healthy lifestyles.

MRSU is a club intended to reach our biracial and multiracial students. Our goal is to create a welcoming environment for students who identify with multiple races, and to achieve a sense of community and connection with peers.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

All juniors and seniors who have a 3.5 GPA or higher are invited to join SQHS’s chapter of the National Honor Society. This club focuses on scholarship, service, leadership, and character. We will participate and plan service projects to better our school and community.

QSA (QUEER STRAIGHT ALLIANCE)

Queer Straight Alliance (QSA) promotes diversity and acceptance in our school for LGBTQ+ students and Straight allies. We want to bring awareness to SqHS about the importance of living an authentic life, and support each other in being free to be who they want to be. Club activities including playing games, discussing issues and concerns, participating in youth conferences & community service projects, collaborating with other QSAs in our region, and supporting the Whatcom Youth Pride Parade.
RACQUET SPORTS CLUB

TEEN COURT
Advisor: Natylee Nelson (x7724)
Interested in law, politics, or activism? Teen Court is an alternative court option for juvenile offenders of minor crimes to be tried by a jury of their peers rather than adults. Students fill every role in the courtroom including jury bailiff, clerk, judge, and advocates (lawyers). Not only do participating students get to make real decisions that have a major impact on someone’s life, but they also learn about approaching a sentence from a restorative justice perspective. TRI-M MUSIC HONOR SOCIETY

The Tri-M Music Honor Society is a National Association for Music Education (NafME) program that recognizes outstanding music students. Tri-M members are nominated by their cooperating music teacher at Squalicum after 2 semesters of involvement in a music class, and are selected based on their excellent academic and musical achievement as well as their strength of character. Chapter members will regularly be involved with community-service activities and music enrichment events, nurturing a more cohesive, inclusive, far reaching and unified music program.
ULTIMATE FRISBEE

VIDEO GAME DESIGN/E-SPORTS

The mission is to create a social place where students can design video games, play video games, and enter competitions. Students will design games, play their other’s creations, and play professional games. We hope to attend regional competitions related to e-sports careers. See Mr. Boyce to sign-up for meeting times.
